Introducing Melanie

Melanie Miguel-Courtad, is a seasoned legal professional and dedicated advocate who has been serving as the President of Friends of CASA of Portage County since August 2022. With over 25 years of experience as a practicing attorney, Melanie has focused in areas such as workers’ compensation, personal injury, and employment discrimination claims.

In 2002, Melanie took a bold step by establishing the Law Offices of Melanie Miguel-Courtad, LLC, a decision that has proven to be both successful and fulfilling. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a commitment to justice and legal excellence, earning the respect of her peers in the legal community. She is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law in Ohio, a certification that is held by slightly over 100 attorneys in the State of Ohio.

Melanie is an active member of the Ohio State Bar Association and Ohio Employment Lawyers Association. Additionally, she serves as a Committee Member with the OAJ Women’s Caucus, further showcasing her dedication to advancing the rights of women in the legal field.

Beyond her legal pursuits, Melanie is deeply involved in philanthropy. Alongside her two daughters,  Carmen and Cami, she has actively participated in numerous fundraising events benefiting organizations such as University Hospitals and Empower Sports. Melanie’s philanthropic endeavors reflect her passion for making a positive impact on her community.

In her personal life, Melanie is happily married to Chris, and together they have two daughters. Carmen is currently pursuing her studies at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, while Cami is a junior at Hawken High School. Family is a cornerstone of Melanie’s life, and she finds joy in spending quality time with her loved ones.

During her leisure moments, Melanie enjoys exploring new destinations through travel, cherishing moments with her family, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through regular exercise. Melanie’s multifaceted life is a testament to her unwavering dedication to both her professional and personal pursuits, making her a well-rounded individual who continues to make a meaningful impact on the Friends of CASA of Portage County.
